Background design by Carlos-the-G Background design by Carlos-the-G
I've always had trouble with backgrounds. Perspective is a bitch.
As a guide, I've used the Adam's Family house model in Sketchup as a base and modified it more to my liking.
I've also created the interior backgrounds so at least I get an idea of what they are supposed to look like.
I will not use the actual images as backgrounds but as lines to ink over as guides. So many books!

Definitely somewhere I'd like to live. Y'know, if it were a real, physical place. Nicely done.

Ive also started to explore SketchUp recently!
However Ive been creating all my stuff because I have no idea what the copyrights on the Sketchup Werehouse are. I would love to publish my comic someday, so Im not sure what I should do but it really would come handy even if I could just edit existing werehouse models to use.

Do you know anything about it?

And btw, we should talk on Facebook chat or something so we could share useful tricks with each other, sometimes I feel like it would be fun and helpful to have someone to talk to that works on similar stuff I do.

Copyright? I dunno, lol.
I wouldn't just use stuff from the warehouse as it could comeback and bite you in the bum.
Use it reference but not for actual finished art.

At least that's my philosophy.

Yes, I agree with you, what I meant is if we can use Sketchup models as a base and edit them, or just use small models like a computer or a toilet for example without a problem.

It's always good to have a reference to go by, especially for weird angles.

hey that's nice, looks great and kind of fit your stile very well, it can really be a life savior to have a good room / background reference specially to keep interiors from mutating over time into chaos

That's an interesting lounge room with a sink in the corner.
It appears to be quite common for artists to use photographs or 3D modellers to create scenes for a sketch reference, so I don't think that you are too alone with the perspective issue.

Did you notice that there is an antique operation table next to the sink?

not *operation* I meant 'operating'!

I knew there was a table there, next to the drawing desk, but it didn't "click" as an operating table, I just saw it as a table with 2 inkwells on it.
I think I was too distract by the Sink.

But okay, extra points for lounge based surgical theatre. Don't forget to provide adequate lighting above the table....

I concur, very smart.  I haven't had too many issues with perspective, but I can see how if you're working on one room from a bunch of angles, it helps to have a quick reference.  Nice work.
